The 1st alien we encounter lands among a crowd of partiers who've just evacuated a nightclub due to power outages, and they form a ring around it as a cop nervously approaches and prods it tentatively with his nightstick. Oops. Bad move. He's immediately disintegrated in a shower of sparks, and everybody panics, screams, and runs. After a frantic chase thru the nightclub, our 5 protagonists end up in a storage room, sans power, where they hang out for the next 4-5 days until the food runs out and they're so much on each others' nerves that they decide they'd rather take their chances with the space critters.
